Information

Editorial Profile
Policy & Practice, a quarterly magazine published by the American Public Human Services Association (APHSA), presents a lively and comprehensive look at issues important to everyone concerned with public human services. Its editorial goals are to highlight the various experiences of administering public assistance programs and services, to examine cutting-edge research and demonstration projects within the public human services field, and to provide readers with a wealth of resourceful information to make them more efficient in their roles as administrators.

Content ranges from commentary by leaders in the field to practice-oriented articles for administrators and direct service practitioners. A sampling of topics includes:

• welfare reform • child support • TANF • health care for low-income families • food stamps • information technology • juvenile justice • housing for low-income families • welfare fraud • Medicaid and Medicare • faith-based social services
Subscriber Profile
Policy & Practice is the information source trusted by decision-makers in the highest levels of state and county government social welfare programs. Our readers represent a valuable market. Policy & Practice readers are the decision-makers who lead our nation’s social welfare programs; most are employed at agencies with budgets exceeding $10 million. Our readers manage programs for child support, TANF, food stamps, Medicaid, welfare to work, child protective services, adoption and foster care, and mental health services. Also, because of their specialized areas of practice, most of our readers are specifically interested in books, computer equipment and software, consulting services, videotapes, seminars, travel, airline and hotel services, and more.

With 5,000 subscribers and more than 15,000 readers, Policy & Practice is the only magazine targeting administrators of social welfare programs and services. And many of these readers don’t read any other government or business publication.
Issue Dates
Policy & Practice is published quarterly in March, June, September, and December.
