The New Interstate Compact for the Placement of Children
State human service administrators, child welfare directors, compact administrators and representatives from a broad and diverse group of national organizations worked together to create a new ICPC. The new compact provides a solid legal foundation and protection for children involved in interstate placements.

Eric Bost Nominated Undersecretary for Food, Nutrition and Consumer Services
President George W. Bush has nominated Eric M. Bost, undersecretary for Food, Nutrition and Consumer Services at the U.S. Department of Agriculture, as the U.S. ambassador to South Africa. Bost was commissioner and chief executive officer of the Texas Department of Human Services. APHSA Joins Over 30 Organizations in Calling for Congress to Reject Cuts to SSBG
On March 28, the American Public Human Services Association joined more than 30 organizations in asking congressional leadership to reject any proposals to reduce funding to the Social Services Block Grant. Some of the other organizations were the National Conference of State Legislatures, the Child Welfare League of America, United Way of America, Catholic Charities USA, and the National Association of Counties.
